James Russell BA, DipDSY, DipYE

James is a yoga teacher and yoga therapist based in Devon, UK. He teaches a holistic approach to yoga that draws from a broad spectrum of traditional techniques. He has practised yoga regularly for many years and has studied with a number of inspiring yoga teachers in the UK, India and Nepal. His main teacher is Duncan Hulin, with whom he has studied regularly for the past 16 years.

James has completed formal training with: The British Wheel of Yoga, The Devon School of Yoga and also Yoga Vidya Gurukul - a yoga school based in Maharashtra, India. He has completed two teacher-training diplomas, and also holds a certificate in ‘Advanced Yoga Studies’ from Yoga Vidya Gurukul and a Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga Therapy from the Devon School of Yoga.

James has been teaching yoga since 2007. He is a teacher for the Devon School of Yoga and teaches on the school’s popular, 500 hour, teacher training programme. He has taught yoga at the Royal Academy for Deaf Education and has taught yoga to ex-offenders in recovery from drug and alcohol dependency. James has also taught in a number of large institutions and corporations such as Exeter University, Devon County Council, Michelmores solicitors and Riverford Organic.

In addition to weekly classes in Totnes and Exeter, James also offers private classes and yoga therapy from his home studio near Haldon Forest.
